Colour wars (week 3 )round up
What a great week on camp it has been. We have had the highest number of campers with us this week so far this summer. Colour wars was a blast.
All through the week our campers were split into three teams; Red, White and Blue. The white team took an early lead at the start of the week. The juniors in the white team were largely to thank as they won their dodgeball competition on Tuesday. We had teams designing their own team flags and logos, which have been on display throughout the week and for the coming weeks. However, despite the early white lead, our blue team smashed our sports day and came out with a big win to end our amazing week!
We also introduced some of our less familiar sports to our campers including lacrosse, Danish longball and shoe golf to name a few. Due to a fond enjoyment of basketball competitions during lunch time, leaders decided it was a great idea to involve these skills during our sessions with an intense game of first to slam dunk from coned areas.
Our stars have also been hard at work rehearsing their performance of Hercules. Our sports camp were also treated by being able to watch their dress rehearsal on Friday afternoon. The big day came and on Friday evening we invited parents into the theatre to watch a very well scripted show by Emma and Sonia, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Furthermore, survival camp have been busy outside building their shelters to protect them from the unpredictable conditions of GSAL! They have also been learning how to make different types of animal snares, for example Rabbit snares. Our leaders have also shown the campers how to safely make nature rope out of nettle stems - after removing the sting of course.
And as always, our campers have thoroughly enjoyed our time in the pool. If you are ever in doubt whether to pack swimming kit or not please don't hesitate to just pack it anyway. We would hate to see children miss out as they haven't got any kit with them.
Last but not least, our lost property table has now grown to lost property tableS. If you think you may have left anything here, please get in touch or pop in to take a look for yourselves.
We have had a fantastic week on camp and all of our team at GSAL are looking forward to welcoming all campers back in the exciting weeks to come!
Stay tuned for the plan for week 4! RRRRRR you ready because if not you can prepare yourself to walk the plank...
